Bears Deluxe is a project rooted in retro pixel art, blockchain gaming, and community. Being "Deluxe" means you believe in doing the right thing, being kind to others, striving to become your best self, and having fun. We also believe in the ethos of digital ownership of assets on the blockchain.
Bears Deluxe was created as a PFP project in August 2021 with no intention of expansion or plans to incorporate additional use cases commonly referred to as project “utility.” PixelMage, the founder, tech lead and primary artist of Bears Deluxe created the project with co-founder PixelKnight simply for their sheer interest and passion for cutting edge blockchain technology, and for the promise of technological advancement blockchains have to offer, specifically to the gaming industry.
Soon after its inception, and much to the project founders surprise, Bears Deluxe quickly saw explosive growth from both market and community standpoints. This shocked the team in the best way possible and a few short weeks later the core developers of the project had resigned from their corporate software jobs to build out the project full time in pursuit of pushing the limitations of blockchain technology as we know it today.
PixelMage and PixelKnight have worn many hats since the beginning of Bears Deluxe. Both web developers, game developers, digital artists, and passionate gamers, the pair immediately knew that leveraging their experience with software and gaming would be the ultimate route to eventually developing full scale blockchain gaming titles.
From the start, the founders' goal has been to pique the interest of the majority of the gaming industry, gamers and publishers alike, whom in most cases, still reject the idea of incorporating blockchain into video games. Mainstream media, misinformation, and general lack of knowledge, among other reasons, has tainted the idea of blockchain integrations and NFTs for many corporate entities, retail investors, and technology based industries. Thus, Mage and Knight have their work cut out for themselves. In their eyes, a ‘fun-first’ approach to developing games (with blockchain integrations sprinkled in) is the perfect recipe for success.
